The Confederation Of NCR Residents’ Welfare Associations (CONRWA) has written to the chief ministers of UP and Delhi, demanding immediate removal of the toll at the DND Flyway connecting Delhi to Noida and beyond. In their letter, CONRWA members said the commissionaire, Noida Toll Bridge Company Ltd (NTBCL), has already recovered the money they had used to build the Flyway, which came up in 2001.
They also alleged that the company had acquired extra land in the process, which they now use for private advertising. CONRWA further pointed out that the distance between Noida and Friends Colony in Delhi – covering the stretch of the bridge – is 4 km, whereas the DND bridge has been built over a 7.2 km stretch. “Why was the road extended by over 3 km more than necessary?” said CONRWA president P S Jain.
